Palm University College COVID-19 Intervention Plan
Introduction
Based on global awareness on Covid-19, symptoms are known to include fever, cough and shortness of breath. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia or breathing difficulties. Because these symptoms are similar to normal flu or cold, it is difficult to distinguish anyone who has Covid-19 from people who may have a common cold. In the light of this, Palm University College has developed this strategy as an intervention to the spread of Covid-19 within geographic parameters of the institution.
Education and Awareness
Routines on Campus
Adherence to the following routines by all individuals who access the Palm Campus will be strictly enforced.
1. Every student, faculty, or staff who is sick will be encouraged to stay at home.
2. Only persons wearing a facemask will be allowed into the Campus premises.
3. Temperatures of anyone entering the college premises will be taken by the security with an infrared thermometer at all entrances. When a person’s temperature exceeds the medically appropriate level, such a person will be isolated and taken to the nearest
medical facility for the necessary attention.
4. After temperature is checked, the individual will be directed to wash their hands with soap under running water and sanitize them as well.
5. Provision will be made for handwashing stations on the campus to encourage regular washing of hands and sanitizing them.
6. Provision will be made for properly operating bins to dispose used tissue.
7. Classrooms and surfaces on the campus will be disinfected regularly.
Attendance Monitoring
Students, faculty, or staffs who are unwell will send a message to the appropriate office through email, WhatsApp, or any other form of text message, in order for their absence to be recorded.
When absenteeism due to respiratory illness of the individual persists, and they have not taken a Covid-19 test, they will be required to test and submit a medical report to that effect.
