A Message from Our President

Welcome to Palm University College, a four-year liberal arts university college in Manya Jorpanya, Shai Hills, in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Palm University College is dedicated to educating ethical and excellent leaders in Africa. Palm University College began in September 2012 in East Legon, Accra with certificate courses in Organizational Leadership.  In June 2014, Palm University College received its affiliation to NABPTEX and commenced running two-year diploma programs in Business Administration, Computerized Accounting, and Banking Technology and Accounting in September 2014 with six (6) faculty, four (4) staff and eleven (11) students. The students were recruited from different parts of the country with a majority from rural areas. Seven (7) of the eleven (11) initial students received a full scholarship (tuition, room and board) and the other four (4) were awarded partial scholarships ranging from 50% to 90% through Palm University Foundation. Out of 120 Palm University College graduates, more than 70% were awarded scholarships.

It has been discussed on virtually every platform in the world that Africa’s challenges are not that of resources but leadership. Indeed, our own experiences have taught us that everything we do is impacted by leadership. Hence, it is obvious that African families, businesses, organizations, villages, towns, cities and countries will rise or fall as a result of the kind of leadership we have and the decisions made on a daily basis.

Undeniably, the evidence of our struggles and lack of consistent progress and rapid development as a people today is the result of the kind of leaders we have produced over the years. In essence, our level of performance on the global stage and our development and success as a continent has a direct correlation with the kind of education we have passed on to our citizenry at the highest level of learning. Indeed, if Africa could compete with the rest of the world as desired, it would be because of the kind of education provided by our universities to prepare our young men and women to lead our businesses, industries and governments; a university education that prepares the graduate for life.

Today’s African universities will undoubtedly produce the future leaders of Africa. We therefore cannot continue doing the same things we have done over the past 60 years and expect a different outcome. We must change the trajectory of Africa’s development. We must do something different in our universities to raise a new generation of leaders who will change the trajectory of Africa’s development. We must train selfless, visionary, ethical, creative, innovative, incorruptible and excellent leaders who will change the trajectory of Africa’s development.

Our mission as a university is to facilitate a student-focused and driven learning process of training visionary, ethical, creative, innovative, incorruptible and excellent African leaders. Our goal is to graduate students who will uphold high ethical standards and apply innovative, creative, critical, and analytical thinking skills in their careers and entrepreneurial experiences.

Palm University College provides an atmosphere where young people come together to explore, discover and develop talents and skills guided and driven by dedicated staff and faculty to lead businesses and launch entrepreneurial endeavors. Palm University College’s hands-on approach to delivering a well-designed and interactive curriculum ensures the theories, concepts, models and principles taught in the lecture hall are transformed into practical activities for students and graduates. This is done by partnering and collaborating with local and international businesses and organizations who engage students and faculty in career-focused events on campus and hands-on community-based projects, internships and job shadowing.  Additionally, students engage in well-designed and facilitated capstone projects that commence right at the onset of enrolling in Palm University College. Each of these experiences are integrated into the various programs and ensure students graduate with relevant and practical industry knowledge to prepare them for employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Palm University College is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC),  and affiliated to the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
