I have enjoyed each moment spent on the Palm University College campus. Palm University College has shaped me into the confident young man I am today. I was awarded a partial scholarship through Palm University Foundation to pursue my diploma and currently I am studying for my bachelor’s degree at Palm University College, while working at the same time. The instruction at Palm University College is practical and engaging combined with critical thinking that allows students to think carefully, come up with ideas and contribute to class discussions. This has allowed me to become outspoken and interactive. In addition, the lecturers at Palm University College transform students into great ethical leaders. I was taught to uphold the values of Palm University College which include leadership, integrity and excellence in all aspects of my life. These values have made me a better person. I am grateful for being part of Palm University College and for everything I have learned. Palm University College wants to support brilliant but needy students and if you fall into that category and have a desire to study and contribute to society in some way, I recommend Palm.

It is always scary to make an educational choice since there are negative perceptions about tertiary education in Ghana regarding quality and cost. With that said, it gives me great pleasure and pride to say I completed my Diploma in Business Administration at Palm University College. Before enrolling at Palm University College in 2014, I had spent two years struggling to find answers to fund my education and further my career while working hard to save money so I could enroll in tertiary education. After my admission and scholarship interview in June 2014 and after gaining admission and a scholarship, there was still this skepticism borne out of peer pressure and misconceptions that quality is only restricted to a certain class and career success is largely aligned to graduating from one of the famous and well-established government tertiary institutions. Quality and success indeed have their own illusion. The two years I spent at Palm University College I believe still stands as one of the best moments in my educational life, as it helped me grow professionally and personally. The liberal-arts based curriculum broadened my knowledge by preparing and introducing me to industry standards. While the internship program proved fruitful to me because I saw the practicality of what was learned in class, the experience of participating in the New Business Challenge (provided by The Netherlands government) enhanced my decision-making and prepared me competitively not only for my career but outside my career. I learned lessons and skills that cannot be taught in the lecture hall. The relationship between faculty and students was very cordial, which gave me an opportunity to explore and excel in my area of interest. After five years of graduating and receiving a 2nd Class Upper honor, the environment laid a foundation to which I have been provided opportunities. I would like to thank the faculty and staff of Palm University College for all the support they provided and for making me a better person.

Palm University College shaped me into the confident woman I am today. I was awarded a partial scholarship from Palm University Foundation for my education at Palm University College. I also was provided with the opportunity to travel to The Netherlands for the New Business Challenge in 2019. The New Business Challenge is a unique business competition, where twenty Dutch and twenty Ghanaian students work in mixed teams to solve business challenges for notable companies based in The Netherlands. Palm University College also has the best lecturers that transform students into great ethical leaders. I was inspired by some of the lecturers that have successful businesses. I would like to start mine too! I am grateful for being part of Palm University College and for everything I have learned.

After high school came the fight of getting into a tertiary institution. I was struggling and aiming for the larger and classier schools in the country which took a year and half before realizing that there was a perfect school close by. As the saying goes, ‘It doesn’t matter the size of the dog in the fight, rather the size of the fight in the dog.’ This is exactly what Palm University College is all about; they are ready to fight for the youth and help the less fortunate to acquire knowledge, skills and a good moral compass which is of great benefit. When Sir Francis Bacon published in his work Meditationes Sacrae (1597), “Knowledge itself is power”, he most likely wanted to transmit the idea that having and sharing knowledge is the cornerstone of reputation and influence, and therefore power. This is exactly what Palm University College is doing. I applied for a Diploma in Banking Technology and Accounting even though I did not have any background in business. I thought it was going to be difficult for me but the school motivated and pushed me to take my courses seriously. What made it possible was the cordial relationship the faculty had with the students. The two-year diploma program did not seem like a two-year program because what I attained was beyond a two-year program. When I went to further my education with a degree continuing at Level 300, 60% of what I was learning I had already acquired at Palm University College. I can boldly say my two years spent at Palm University College were not in vain because I am proud of what I have become, and it would not have been possible without the strong foundation I received. I would like to thank Palm University College for the great work they have done and are still doing.

My experience at Palm University College prepared me to transition into the business environment. I studied Computerized Accounting and found the course curriculum at Palm University College to be very challenging but rewarding. It provided me with a hands-on approach to accounting and the software available. The seminars that were offered provided practical knowledge from those working in the field. The two years at Palm University College built my confidence and improved my presentation and team-work skills. Palm University College also provided students with the opportunity to participate in a competition to develop sustainable solutions for businesses in The Netherlands. This opportunity enhanced my creativity and provided contacts that led me to my current job as a Customer Experience Officer at Allianz Insurance in Ghana.
