MARY’S TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY: EMPOWERING FUTURE Born and raised in a humble village, my journey to higher education has been nothing short of a miracle. I was always determined to rise above my circumstances and use education as a tool for personal development and societal impact. My desire was not only for self-improvement but also to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the young girls in my village. I wanted to tell the story that irrespective of one’s background, it was possible to dream big and achieve those dreams. My choice of Palm University for my higher education was influenced by several factors. The university’s mission and vision deeply resonated with me. I was particularly drawn to its culture of excellence and its commitment to molding students into agents of change in society. I believed that an education at Palm University would equip me with the necessary skills and knowledge to effect the change I desired in my society. The Palm Community Service program also deeply resonated with me due to my aspiration to impact my community.
Since joining Palm University, I have experienced significant changes in my academics, personal development, career development, and social life. I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from individuals from different backgrounds through the Palm Peer Mentoring program, which has greatly enhanced my interpersonal and leadership skills. My journey at Palm has been impactful so far with the help of some faculty and staff members through academic advising, counseling, etc. Partaking in community service at the City of Refuge in Doryumu and discharging my duties there has made me realize how important it is to impact the world and close the gap between the haves and have-nots. I look forward to more opportunities to make a difference in the world. Thank you.
