Daniel Baah

I am Daniel Baah, a freshman studying BSc Computer Science at Palm University. During the semester, I observed that some students complained about their difficulty in uploading their assignments onto the Palm E-Learning platform due to inadequate internet data. The allotted data the university provides for students monthly is not enough to attend to all our academic and social activities online. In Ghana, the cost of internet data increases all the time with no hope of it reducing. Hence, the Palm University is unable to provide for the internet data needs of all its students because of limited financial resources. Also, submitting an assignment involves opening a browser before uploading to the E-Learning platform, logging in and then submitting the assignment which consumes a lot of internet data and also takes a long time.

With the mindset of identifying and solving problems, I decided to work toward making the E-Learning platform (website) easily accessible to students to reduce the timeframe on internet browsers, help them save time and data and submit assignments faster than before. Hence, I set out to use the technology tools I had access to, to create a very simple web application that will make it easier for students to access the Palm E-Learning platform without going through the hassle of accessing an internet browser. The web application I developed to solve our E-Learning challenges at Palm University is called Palmers.
