Center for Ethical Leadership (CEL)

Palm Centre for Ethical and Excellent Leadership

CENTER FOR ETHICAL LEADERSHIP AT PALM

About

In keeping with our mission to produce educated ethical and excellent leaders in Africa, Palm University College has established the Center for Ethical Leadership (CEL).

The mission of the Centre is to attract, nurture, grow and produce a community of practicing ethical and excellent leaders in Africa.

The vision of the Centre is to produce educated ethical and excellent professional leaders in Africa.
Through the Center’s programs, activities and research, Africans who desire to exhibit (practice) and uphold ethical and excellent leadership in all aspects of their lives and profession would be equipped and trained with the support of a community of practitioners to achieve their goal of professional ethical and excellent professional leadership. The Centre leads the fight against unethical leadership behavior and corruption in our society.
Through its programs, the Centre will strongly advocate for ethical leadership at the workplaces, homes, churches and society in general. It will contribute massively toward producing ethical leaders who would endeavor to do the right thing when no one is watching wherever they are or find themselves. As a strong and dynamic accountability network (Community of Practitioners), the Association of Professional Ethical and Excellent Leader (APEL), at the Centre for Ethical and Excellent Leaders is expected to ensure that its members are held accountable in all aspects of their lives. The Centre will conduct current and relevant research on ethical leadership in Ghana and Africa and disseminate its finding on conference platforms and other media for long-term solution identification and implementation to help curb the menace of corruption that has plagued the continent of Africa.

The Centre will run three (3) main programs and activities:

  • The Professional Ethical Leadership Certification Program

Through this program, CEL would certify professionals and students who desire to exhibit (practice) ethical leadership and excellence in all spheres of life. The Association of Professional Ethical and Excellent Leaders (APEL) will serve as an accountability network and tool for its members to ensure they walk the talk of ethical and excellent leadership. The expected outcome is to produce nurtured ethical and excellent leaders who would in the long term change the narrative about leadership in Ghana and Africa

  • Executive Leadership Roundtable Discussion

This an annual event will bring together corporate executives and leaders who are passionate about ethical leadership to have deeper conversation on this subject. Our expectation is that as we bring major stakeholders to the table to discuss and confront issues related to corruption and unethical leadership, individuals and leaders in various industries and walks of life across the continent would promote and advocate for ethical leadership across Africa.

  • The Women Leadership Roundtable Discussion

The Women in Leadership Roundtable Discussions brings accomplished women in executive and leadership positions from diverse industries to the same table to discuss and address issues on ethics, leadership and corruption and their effects on women, children, industry, governance and the African society in general.

Most professions provide some form of certification for professionals and some form of accountability network for practitioners. It is not the case for practicing leaders. Through the Ethical Leadership Certification program, the Centre seeks to nurture and grow a community of practitioners who would hold each other accountable and form formidable united front in the fight against corruption and unethical leadership behavior in our society. This certification program is necessary because it focus on ethical leadership with a strong accountability framework which is realistically absent in our concept of leadership today.
The program will run annually over a six (6) month period. Both face-to-face and virtual media of teaching and learning will be employed. Palm students who sign up for the program will take the modules in their 3rd and 4th years.
